You know the drill. Out of an excitement level between 1 and 10, you are at a 24 as soon as you recruit a new team member.

Okay, it was extremely difficult getting him signed-in to your MLM / network marketing program. But you hung in there and he also played the game of telling you what you wanted to hear each time you contacted him: I am still interested but I have not had the time to ________________ (go online and view the presentation, pop the dvd into my player and watch the presentation, go over all the material you left me, etc.). None of that matters, your MLM / network marketing superstar is in and he is your personally sponsored. If I were you, I would not go yacht shopping just yet.

Let me give you a personal example. When my wife and I attended our very first living room presentation there was another prospect couple invited besides us. Our future sponsor invited others but they were no-shows. Someone from his upline presented their network marketing plan to us. It was one of the better presentations I had ever seen in my business career.

When we left, we certainly did not project an image of super enthusiasm as we told our host that we would discuss it and get back to him. I am sure he heard this line many times in the past. The other couple was giddy and started to write down everyone they intended to invite to their own living room presentation.

En route home we discussed it further and decided we would join his network marketing program.

At 9 the next morning I called our future sponsor and asked if he was going to be home as I wanted to sign up as a new distributor under him. I drove over to his house, completed the paperwork while he was supercharged over the previous night's presentation and specifically over the OTHER couple and all the people the other couple said they knew. (Talk about dreaming, I thought our new sponsor was going out mansion shopping just as soon as I left.)

After a couple of months, we were considered Go-Getters since we would exceed doing 30 (more like 45) presentations a month. Recognition came rapidly to us as our team started to rack up some heavy duty sales numbers. At the next major event, we crossed stage signaling we had achieved the first high sales level. Right in back of us came our sponsor and in back of him, his sponsor. This meant that our hard work caused them to be recognized at this first level as well'which was fine because we would not be involved with this opportunity had our sponsor not approached us in the first place.

Oh, by the way, the other couple - the giddy ones - who knew EVERYONE, never got in.

What I learned from this: never assume anything. The ones you think will get in, won't. And the ones you think would never get in, will.

P.S. My brother-in-law had a stroke which left him with limited use of his right leg and arm. He joined our business and asked my opinion of his approaching one of his doctors, a surgeon. I told him to go for it as I would be willing to guarantee that his doctor may have been at a higher income level but he lacked the time to enjoy his income and if he built a substantial team, he would then have the time freedom. The bottom line: the surgeon got in. Since then, my brother-in-law has died but he is a perfect example of being non-judgmental and not assuming anything. He never believed that anyone would NOT get into his business.
